Standing rigging

Shrouds and stays with variations

CUL-Masts equips sailors not only with carbon fiber masts. We are your supplier for shrouds, stays and wire bracing. In doing so, CUL-Masten relies on the best material on the market: Modern and ultra-light synthetic rigging concepts made of carbon, Dyneema®, PBO-Zylon®, Kevlar® or Vectran®. A new fitting to match the carbon mast or even a conversion of your existing rig is possible through specialized fittings. With our modern Wireteknik rolling machine, we can also safely and professionally roll conventional wire shrouds, Dyform/Phyton and ropes up to a diameter of 16 mm.

Synthetic shroud conversion made easy

Synthetic rigging concepts are gaining increasing acceptance and are now used not only by regatta sailors but also by daysailers and cruising yachts. The logical consequence of this is the consistent completion of the lightweight carbon mast with ultra-light shrouds and stays. The considerable weight saving of up to 90% when switching from wire shrouds to CUL-Carbon or Dyna DM20 shrouds has an extremely positive effect on the righting moment of the boat and the center of gravity of the mast. But these advantages do not only have an effect on the carbon mast. It also makes sense to convert an aluminum mast, as the weight reduction improves the sailing performance. With the help of special terminals, CUL-Masten can replace existing wires with synthetic shrouds.

Advantages CUL-Dyna DM20 shrouds and stays

  • With Dyneema DM20 Technology
  • Thermally stretched for higher strength
  • No creep (constant elongation) under load
  • Allows ultralight shrouds and stays as a full wire rope replacement
  • Due to the leverage effect of the mast, a lighter rig significantly increases the righting moment and allows for a much lighter keel. In addition, the boat rides higher and faster on the wind.
  • Minimal wind attack area due to the rope cross-section compacted in the stretching process
  • Saltwater and UV resistant like all CUL-Dyna series shrouds

Advantages CUL-Carbon shrouds and stays

  • Made of high strength carbon with high elasticity
  • Special process makes the carbon shrouds strong yet flexible
  • Extremely easy complete rigging as no heavy fittings and terminals are required on the sails!
  • lightweight titanium terminals and carbon shroud turnbuckles
  • Shockproof and rollable
  • special abrasion resistant sheathing for forestay or stressed shrouds
  • least elongation
  • No creep (constant elongation) under load
  • Allows ultralight shrouds and stays as a full replacement for rod or PBO
  • Due to the leverage effect of the mast, a lighter rig significantly increases the righting moment and allows for a much lighter keel. In addition, the boat rides higher and faster on the wind.
  • Minimal wind attack area due to the rope cross-section compacted in the stretching process
  • UV resistant and long life
