40s sea cruiser conversion to CUL-Masten carbon rig in wood veneer.
Conversion of a classic 40s sea cruiser from a wooden mast and boom, to a modern and very light CUL carbon rig.
The conversion was done during the complete and perfect restoration of the boat by Scheurer Bootswerft AG Nidau on Lake Biel. Known for classic boat building, as well as modern composite foiling A-Cat's. To keep the classic design of the boat, the carbon mast and boom were also veneered with wood by Andreas Scheurer and the classic rigging was preserved. Various carbon design elements hint at the modern technology. The modern rig can be perfectly adjusted to all wind conditions and the boat sails smoothly and quietly through the waves. The sailing characteristics and righting moment have been significantly improved by the refit.
